2017 – 2019

We were informed in June 2017 By Barrow council management informing us that from April 2018 the council would no longer provide maintenance services for the club. We were informed that it cost £6.500 per annum to maintain the bowling-green, surrounding grass & hedging &buildings. They informed us that if we did not agree to taking over the maintenance & agree to a new lease agreement they would shut the facility, demolish the buildings & remove the perimeter fencing.

We were left with no machinery or equipment and had to raise funds to purchase machinery and equipment.

We have had to increase subscriptions and have managed to attract sponsors and have organised open competitions and host several League and County Competitions.

We have bought new mowers & other equipment & are now a private club responsible for the maintenance & up-keep of the bowling green & facilities. Under the supervision of our green keeper we have been training in the use of the mowers & other duties required ensuring we have a bowling surface second to none.

After 3 years of negotiations we have now signed a new 15 year lease agreement with Barrow Council.
